Isabell And Tias Political Party

So today 9kro presented their presentations. We were put into groups to create and share your own party. There were 4 groups with 4 different parties. There were all kinds of parties including our cancer awareness party. The reason why we chose cancer was because we wanted to help those who are diagnosed with cancer to beat cancer. Both Tia and I stood up to present our political party slide I felt confident and nervous. I felt a little nervous because i thought i would muck up some words. Fortunately all went well and i was able to speak with confidence. Mr Go mentioned we had a great color code theme that was used for our presentation and suggested we could explain where the money would come from.I sure did enjoyed working on this presentation because i generally care for those suffering from cancer. I thoroughly enjoyed presenting it to my class.

A Productive Weekend

In the weekends my sister and I went to my dads house. We stayed there till it was dark. While we were there we played outside and went swimming at Glendowie beach. The beach was full of people splashing and bombing. I jumped off the wharf with fear. But as I jumped I got used to it. I also started doing cannon bombs. Later on my sisters and aunties and cousins arrived. It was a hot day but the water was cold and deep. After swimming my dad took us out for dinner and ice cream. For dinner we had chicken and chips at my aunt's house. Then we showered to get the salt water out of our bodies. We rested there and played for a few hours, At approximately 10:00 my sister and I went home. It was a tiring day.

Room 12's Film

Room 12 made a fantastic and fun video on some advice and tips on rugby. The film was called rugby values. Everyone participated in the film. It took a lot of filming and editing. I enjoyed acting. The film was also played at the Hoyts Sylvia park cinema. I had two little kids to look after. I had to take care of them, so that we couldn't lose anyone. I enjoyed acting as a coach/referee.

🔥🎆GUY FAWKES🎆🔥

Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Fawkes, the name he adopted while fighting for the Spanish, was a member of a group of English Catholics who planned the failed Gunpowder Plot of 1605. Fawkes was born and educated in York. Guy Fawkes day is a day where everyone spends a heap of money on expensive fireworks and sparklers. They light it up at night time it shoots in the sky at night.🌃

Sunday Afternoon

Last week Sunday was a very special occasion for the people who go to church. This special religious occasion was White Sunday. It basically means everyone has to wear white to church. In some churches kids age 3 years old-11 year old  present their presentations in their white beautiful dresses.

At White Sunday there were group singing and solo singers. The occasion took 2 hours. It was held at a Mormon Chapel on Taniwha Street. After the presentations were finish the kids and youth went into a room where we could eat and have a big feast.

The kids had finger foods like hot chips, sausages, nuggets, drinks, fruit pops, fruit sticks and heaps more. My family friends and member had a umu. In the umu it included chicken, lamb, pork, Lu, yams, corn, chop suey and more.

🎈The Holidays🎈

In the holidays I went to my niece and cousins birthday. They both had the same birthday but my cousin had hers a day after my niece. For the two birthdays my uncles and cousins made an Umu a traditional underground oven. Islanders make Umus for special occasions. We put yam and different kind of meats. The food was cooking underground while two pigs were cooked on the top. This is another traditional way of cooking pig. But first of all my uncle took out the guts and the stomach that was in the pig and also cleaned it. While the men and boys cooked the meat my aunties and mum made salads, goodie bags, set up the table and the barberque. At 2:00 pm the party started a lot of family members, friends and church people came to the birthday they brought shoes, clothes more presents, food and a lot of money for my niece and cousin. It was a tiring day but I had lots of fun. The birthday was held at the backyard of my aunties.

Orienteering 22/8/17😓

Last week we did orienteering with Mr Leon. It was a different task we had to do. It included lots of running and collecting blocks. We were given sheets of paper that had maps around the school. We had to look for the blocks by looking at the map and facing it north. It was really hard because it was freezing out there and also trying to find where the blocks were hidden. Some were on trees and between buildings. We had fun.💖

😐NO TECH!!!😐

Every Wednesday the senior students go to Tamaki college for technicraft but today I didn't go because of the slippers I wore to school. They do not allow slippers in technicraft. There are dangerous things in the room like knives and cutting machines. I was put in room 1. I helped the kids with reading and maths. To be very honest I actually had fun in room 1.

🌴The Pacific Event 🌴

Today at 11:30 our school had a Pacific Event. Students were dressed in Tongan and Samoan clothing and accessories. Each class had to choose a performance to present in front of the school.

The performance I enjoyed and liked most was Room 6. They wore traditional clothing and did a catwalk. The clothing they had on had colorful patterns. Room 6 also had a partner each to walk with and pose.

Room 11/12 sang a song called How Far I'll Go by Alessia Cara. We were told to sing with enthusiasm. I think we did good by the way.
The event was interesting and fun.

😄Skipping Demonstration😄😌

Ruapotaka School had the skip off competition and the demonstration. I felt very nervous and excited at the same time. Parents and families came to watch. The juniors had their skip off first. Reality came 1st place, Otolose came 2nd place and Jacob came 3rd place. After the skip off the juniors went back to the junior block. When it was finally our turn to perform I felt scared that I was gonna mess up but I told myself that I shouldn't worry. As I did the double dutch I failed two times but managed to do it on the third attempt. I was very proud of our group and class. I am relieved and happy that it has finished.

Tapa Drawings

On Friday afternoons Room 12 group 1 and 2 did art. For art we drew tapa cloths on paper based on our learning about "The Pacific Study". We used colors and pencils to draw Tongan or Samoan patterns and many island pattern. The patterns I drew was a flower and a traditional Tongan pattern. I used a black pencil to darken the outline and used a pencil to shade the inside of the flower.

😲Skipping Is Coming Up 😮

Next week Wednesday Ruapotaka School will start skipping. There will be competitions on who skips the longest. In room 12 we all split in groups to figure out what were going to do with the ropes. My group and I decided to use long ropes and do double dutch. My groups are Teremoana, Meafou, Vika and Vaimoana. We all have things to do. Some of the other groups have tricks to display. I feel nervous and excited at the same times. Hopefully it all goes well.😳Parents can come to watch..👍

The class hosting it was Room 10.

At the assembly we had songs, certificates and quizzes.

Tyron and Tupouseini got certificates for reading to a higher level.

The quiz was about Samoa and Tongan questions and Room 12 answered the most questions so they received a certificate.

 It was fun.
